New BMW M 1000 RR and M 1000 R

BMW Motorrad has taken the wraps off the 2023 M 1000 RR in the international market. Adding to its arsenal, the Bavarian bike maker has also unveiled the M 1000 R. Both bikes come loaded with carbon fibre parts and a bevvy of electronics compared to their standard models.

While the M 1000 RR and the M 1000 R feature the same design as the S models, BMW has equipped the bikes with aerodynamic winglets. These help the R with 11kg of downforce at speeds of 220kmph. Further, the M duo is powered by a 999cc inline-four cylinder engine dishing out 210bhp for the RR and about 207bhp for the R. The power bump is a result of forged pistons, CNC machined intake ports, and the BMW ShiftCam technology.

Both bikes feature lean-sensitive electronics, riding modes, throttle and engine brake modes, launch control, pit lane limiter, hill hold and more. BMW will offer both bikes in two variants: standard and M competition.

The M 1000 RR even gets front brake cooling ducts made up of carbon fibre. Other fancy bits like aluminium forged wheels for the M 1000 R and carbon or forged rims for the M 1000 RR are also on the list.

The bikes are yet to be launched in India and are currently available in the international market only. Once launched here, you can expect BMW to price both bikes close to Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom) considering the previous generation M 1000 RR retails at Rs 42 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
